) Yes, You, Insurance, on the Tube
I'm still on dial-up, which does not allow visits to video sites, because a short clip might take a month to load. But I recently spent three weeks in hotels in the New and Old Worlds, with broadband connections. This, friends, is where I discovered YouTube.

) Canadian denies pedophile allegations
The Canadian arrested in Thailand accused of sexually abusing boys across Southeast Asia denies the allegations, a news channel which interviewed him at a Thai police station reported here Saturday. The suspect, Christopher Paul Neil, said the evidence that Thai authorities have would not stand up in a Canadian court and he had a "good defense," according to a reporter for Broadcaster CTV, Steve Chao, who interviewed him in Bangkok.
Neil was arrested in northeastern Thailand after investigators at the global force Interpol launched a rare public global hunt for a man seen in 200 Internet photos abusing a dozen young Asian boys.
They identified Neil after decrypting photographs of the man, whose face was blurred out.
Neil, 32, could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of abusing a nine-year-old Thai boy in Bangkok four years ago, Thai police said. More>>

) 50th Merdeka Celebrations: Malaysians around the globe celebrate in their own ways
ABU DHABI: The spirit of Merdeka was very much alive among Malaysians in other countries yesterday. Malaysians thronged the Malaysian embassy here to join in the celebrations.
Those from Dubai arrived early in the morning, taking off in a "convoy" of 12 cars at 7am for the two-hour drive here to be part of the nations birthday bash.
Living thousands of kilometres away from home did not stop them from being in a festive mood and showing love for the country which has seen tremendous development in all aspects.
Khairul Affendi, who led the convoy from Dubai, said that the nations birthday bash also enabled Malaysians from different parts of the UAE to mingle with each other, especially those staying here.
"It is a very warm gathering indeed to commemorate our nations birth," said Khairul, who has been in Dubai for three years and is with a real estate company. More>>

) Thai police hunt fugitive crocodiles
BANGKOK, Thailand—Police with assault rifles hunted Friday for 36 crocodiles that escaped from a farm in northeastern Thailand when their pens were flooded after heavy rains, an official said. Search parties shot and killed eight of the animals as they slithered through the flooded district Friday morning, said Chin Konjohor, chief of the area's municipal office.
Police and village volunteers have been scouring the Nonsoong district of Nakhon Ratchasima province by boat, day and night, since the crocodiles escaped on Tuesday, he said.
Chin said nighttime searches were often the most successful because crocodiles' eyes glow in the dark.
Heavy rains have inundated several northeastern provinces for days. Parts of Nakhon Ratchasima province, about 130 miles north of Bangkok, are among the hardest hit. More>>
