BANGKOK, Oct 3 (TNA) � Violence in Myanmar caused by the military government's crackdown on mass street protests by monks and the people, if persistent, will have an impact on businesses owned by many groups of Thai investors in the country, according to the Kasikorn Research Centre.The leading think tank reported should the unrest drag on, and escalate, it would affect Thai businesses investing in tourism in Myanmar since foreign tourists would reduce their travel into the country.

A Canadian paedophile suspect who caused an international furore after posting child sex images on the internet has been asked to submit to HIV tests, Thai police say.Christopher Paul Neil, 32, was exposed when German police investigators managed to "uncoil" his digitally disguised face on an internet porn site that also showed many of his alleged child victims.
A child welfare officer involved in the case today said it was "sensible" to test someone suspected of having sex with scores of vulnerable children for sexually transmitted diseases. Neil must agree to take blood tests.
